THE LINCOLN CIVIC AWARD

Posted on: April 25, 2026 by Ian Boyle Share this post

The club are unbelievably proud to announce that we have been awarded the highly coveted honour of The Lincoln Civic Award by the @lincolncouncil which celebrates those who have made an exceptional contribution to the city of Lincoln.

The achievement may be a single act or have been performed over a period of time, and could have been performed as a voluntary act or in the course of paid work.

Members of the public were encouraged to put forward charity workers, sportsmen and women, businesses, education professionals and health workers who have made an outstanding contribution to the city. We are extremely proud to say we achieved this momentous feat!

The Civic Award was first established in 1966 by the late Frank Eccleshare, during his term as Mayor of Lincoln. His vision was to create an annual award recognising an outstanding individual, organisation or company that had brought credit to the city.

The Chair of the Lincoln Civic Award, Henry Ruddock, said: “The winner’s name will be added to an impressive Roll of Honour which already includes some excellent individuals, charities and companies. Many previous winners have helped spread Lincoln’s name and reputation across the wider world over the years.”

The award will be presented by the Right Worshipful, the Mayor of Lincoln, Councillor Bill Mara, at a special ceremony in the city’s historic Guildhall on 30th April.

Past recipients include:

@rafredarrows
@ntrlincoln
@lincolnshirefirerescue
@stokescoffee
Danny & Nicky Cowley
Plus many, many more

The club would like to thank the original nominator, the trustees who believed us to be deserving, the City of Lincoln council for their unwavering support through a difficult year last year, and the volunteers who support the club in it’s day-to-day operation whether that be officiating, coaching, volunteering, or otherwise.

The biggest mention must go to each and every member, past and present, for helping to make this club what it is. A family-friendly, welcoming, inclusive space for everyone. Whether you want to compete, train, or come along to socialise and support wellbeing.

Thank you!
