LWAC Receives Lincoln Civic Award
Posted on: May 5, 2026 by Ian Boyle Share this postApril 30th 2026 saw us officially receive the Lincoln Civic Award at the infamous Lincoln Guildhall.
What an absolute honour and privilege it is to have been recognised by members of the local community for having brought credit to the city of Lincoln.
Words can’t express our gratitude to @running_imp and @illsley.chris for nominating us for this extremely prestigious award (you can see his nomination letter at the end of this post).
Our utmost thank you goes to @lincolncouncil and the Board of Trustees that came to the decision, as well as Bill Mara, Mayor of Lincoln City, who presented the award.
Lincoln Wellington President, Terry Timmis, spoke about the history of the club and how it connects with the community and its people, upon proudly accepting the honour.
A very special thank you must go to every single person who has encountered this club – your club, our club – since that Wednesday evening (20th September 1911) in the upper room of the Duke of Wellington when the club was founded.
We really wouldn’t be who we are without the contributions of you: our athletes, parents and guardians, officials, coaches, volunteers, life members, committee, and officers, from the past, present, and for a continued bright future.
We absolutely want to recognise all of the amazing nominees this year, with special commendations going to the incredible 2nd Battalion, Royal Anglian Regiment “The Poachers”, and Bracebridge Boxingclub founder, Denny Oliver. Finally, we’d like to recognise all past winners, with special thanks going to last year’s winners, @stokescoffee who so graciously handed over the Lincoln Civic Award to LWAC for 2026.
This award belongs to every person who has worn our colours, given their time, and believed in what we’re building. To be recognised in this way, in our own city, is truly a pleasure. It’s a reflection of years of commitment, community, and shared belief with purpose and pride.
For our past, for our present, and for what comes next.
Thank you
