Club Record Update!

Posted on: March 6, 2026 by Ian Boyle Share this post
We’re rifling through some records that have fallen over recent months – today it’s the turn of sprinter (and affectionately known within his group as) “Lord” Callum Winchester-Wright.
This record comes from this year’s indoor season, where Callum has broken the 60m club record. The previous holder was none other than Kaesi Opara, (who now runs with @wseh_ac under @linford_christie ) with 6.87s from Newham in February 2022.
Callum ran a blistering 6.84s at the @northernathletics Indoor Championships on January 10th this year in his semi-final, going on to run 6.89s in the final, just missing out on a medal.
He has also represented and impressed at international level, representing @englandathletics and has received invitations to @britishathletics Championships consistently. This years indoors saw him reach the semi-final, with a 6.87s performance coming in the heats.
Callum had this to say on making club history: “It feels really good to break the club record over the 60m, the target for this indoor season was to be in my best form during an indoor season and I knew if I could achieve that then the club record would be achievable.”
On the event itself he continued, “Northern Championships went really well for me, I ran my best series of 60m with 6.91, 6.84, and 6.89 in the same day and finished 4th in the final.
This also qualified me for British Champs. I managed to execute the races exactly how I would like and got the pleasure of racing against Andy Robertson again.”
It hasn’t been without challenges and setbacks, however, showing his dedication and discipline to the sport, “I had some surgery after Brits so we are making sure I’m fully recovered ready for a training camp out in Portugal towards the end of April and to hopefully have an injury-free and successful outdoor season.
I will be competing in the Northern League for LWAC and also in the National League for Sheffield and will hopefully figure in the Northern, England and British championships.”
Huge congratulations to this lightning fast Welly, Lord Callum!
